Broke My Own Rule
I have a rule - no eating in the RV. It’s gross in there and not a food friendly environment, especially for Cody who knows nothing about food safety. The rule will be lifted when the environment is good for food and my sanity.
So I decided to let Cody have his evening snack inside “Hope the RV” last night and broke my own rule. Yep. I’m a rebel at heart. Rules are often made for very good reasons and there should be good reasons to break them. I had no good reason other then I thought it would bring joy to him to eat out there. It did. He was more then happy to carry his snack bag to the RV and walk inside to eat.
We sat down and I remembered the little table that flips up in the seating area. I flipped it up and he had his snack at the table and I had my water there too. I was feeling so good about it all. Until we were ready to leave. Then two things happened to remind me why I put the rule in place to begin with.
One, I couldn’t figure out how to flip the table back down and Cody became very aggressive about putting it back in place. I was worried he would break it but thankfully he didn’t.
And two, he found a piece of brownie he dropped and as predicted put it towards his open mouth. Cody is 19years old this year. He’s 168lbs and while he can make himself into a lump of jelly when he wants to, he can also exhibit Herculean strength at times. I had to wrestle that brownie from his fingers while saying it was poison.
Yep rules are in place for a reason. Now I remember why I created that “no food rule.”
